Lincoln

The Lincoln Motor Company was started in 1917 by Henry Leland the founder of Cadillac. This was just after Leland was removed from Cadillac which was bought by GM. Lincoln’s focus was on high end automobiles. Leland already accomplished this once and did very well with Cadillac so it was a very easy task to pick up where he left off. However in 1922 Lincoln was starting to fall and was bought by Ford Motor Company in 1922. When Ford acquired Lincoln this was a new and unfamiliar road because Ford was focused on more economical cars that everyone could afford. So with new personnel and a company that has a brand name the only shouts luxury, Ford had to step it up. This is when Lincoln’s first car the Zephyr was redesigned bigger and better. Lincoln was reborn under the Ford Brand and still continues as one of the high end automobile manufacturers today.
